Hair Masks

We’ve all heard of the importance of using a face mask weekly. They restore moisture and nutrients to our skin and they they extract impurities, leaving us with fresh and glowing faces. However, did you know that your hair needs masks just as much as your face does? That’s right, masks are not just for your skin, hair masks can leave you with shinier, healthier, and stronger hair after just a few uses. Much like our skin, our hair is exposed to harsh conditions, including weather, pollution, and other unavoidable elements. In order to keep our hair in the healthiest condition possible, it’s crucial that we give it some tough love and care.

Whipping up a mask for your hair at home is easier than you could ever imagine. There are literally hundreds of different masks you can make by combining ingredients that are lying around in almost everyone’s fridge. These ingredients include but aren’t limited to olive oil, honey, lemon juice, eggs, milk, and avocado. Here are three different masks you can make using these very ingredients!

Mask 1

If you’re looking for something to nourish your hair then this is the mask for you. It works great on dry, damaged, or frizzy hair. You’ll need 1 egg, 1 cup of milk, the juice of half a lemon, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix all of these ingredients together in a large bowl and lather it on to your hair. Make sure the mask gets all the way to your scalp. Put a plastic shower cap over your hair (a disposable one!) and leave the mask on for at least 15 minutes. After 15 minutes wash it out with cold water and shampoo and you will see a huge difference in the appearance of your hair! You can use this mask once or twice a month for healthy, beautiful hair.

Mask 2

Not only does this mask smell amazing, the list of ingredients sound more like a smoothie mix than a hair mask! This mask is especially great for girls with weak hair that breaks easily. The ingredients will prevent breakage and split ends! You’ll need one ripe banana, 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, and one tablespoon of olive oil. Beat the banana well and proceed to add the rest of the ingredients. Massage the mask into your hair and pay special attention to the scalp area. Leave in for around 10 minutes and wash out well with warm water. You don’t even need a shampoo or a conditioner to wash this mask out because the natural ingredients will do the trick for you!

Mask 3

For this mask you’ll need 1 ripe avocado, 1/4 of a glass of milk, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Mix the three ingredients together until they reach a consistency similar to hair conditioner. Leave this one on for at least 15 minutes. Rinse out with look warm water and voila, there you have it! Shiny, healthy hair in under 20 minutes!
